The Conservation Project
&
The Enonkishu Conservancy:
A community owned private initiative aimed at protecting the wildlife grazing area surrounding the north western edge of the Maasai Mara. The Enonkishu conservancy aims to protect the environment by education, conservation awareness, improved security, improved cattle husbandry, and improving the livelihoods of the Maasai Landowners. We would like the area to be prime game viewing area which will bring in revenue for the landowners. This is 24,000 acres of natural bush, the areas around which are rapidly being encroached by farmers and subdivided. Poaching and charcoal burning is common and by establishing a working and sustainable conservancy, it will help save the eroding edges of the Maasai Mara. We have had great support from WWF so far and hope this continues!!

The Enonkishu Women’s Development Group:
Improving livlihoods of women in the area by creating income generating activites that can be managed and owned by the women. Currently the women are involved in owning and managing a successful beehive and honey business, with over 200 hives currently in place with honey harvesting and selling happening once a month.
